Why does the Torah forbid Jews to eat pork? (Leviticus 11: 7)?

At that time pork was not healthy for things like tapeworm and such. Today pork is now inspected as beef and chicken in respect to it being safe to eat.

The Lord never explained why. He expects us to obey him even when we don't understand why he commands things. Note that during a crisis, he wouldn't have time to sit us down and explain things to us.

God created the pig to be a scavenger and it was not meant for human consumption. God created the pig to clean the earth. That is why the pig is called unclean.

Pigs are unclean.
Though they divide the hoof, a separated walk, they do not chew the cud, turn over and digest God's word.
Therefore they symbolise religious people who do not know or follow God.
All the regulations in the Old Testament are physical symbols or illustrations of spiritual truth.
So, pork is forbidden to illustrate spiritual; truth.

People can make guesses at the human reasons behind such rules.
The seemingly obvious reason is that people got sick from eating undercooked pork, but there's no good reason to believe that they wouldn't have known how to cook it longer.
Another reason suggested is that it was simply to differentiate the Israelites from their neighbors -- to keep themselves as a holy people.
The latter reason fits better to explain the commandment against mixing fabrics.
Meanwhile, why don't McDonald's, Burger King, Sonic, and Wendy's have horsemeat burgers? Every chain is basically a copy of the others.
Why do Christians eat pork? Because Paul found it was easier to get converts if he didn't place prohibitions on them.
